OK stupid question, my son 16 has now ventured from racing Go-karts to cars. I need to get sponsors and I can provide figures of coverage and other benefits for companies including marketing. Gary would say build a brand... OK what I am aiming at? I don't know really what to put out as content? And what sort of thing a personal brand looks like. I know I am just having a mind block, I am doing a bunch of stuff but feel like I should have a core idea, like what outside of pure entertainment is the value?

  • Darren Allatt Look at all the different types of content that they put out in Nascar, F1, Drifting, Touring Cars, Rally - then do that on social media channels

  • Daniel Talbott Look to popular racing shows and documentaries for inspiration, and Automotive Social Media Influencers for direction. Adam LZ is touted as the best in the genre, even by marketers for professional drifting teams... Look at what he does for drifting, and have your son apply that to his series.

  • David Turner The brand is your son. Potential F1 driver, your content is documenting his progress, from boy to man. His fan base, who follows him? What companies would be interested in the fan base he has? There is a ton of value here.

Lee Giles Pm me. We’re sponsoring Lone Stone Legends this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. I’d like to find out more on the type of racing you’re doing. I can share some ideas for you also as it relates to donating sponsor space on your car for non-profits. I would start there and do it for free for their benefit. FlatGuys

Alexander Redder Also Look into local brands... Thats also how Gary does it with Vaynersports ... Because its an easy link to the persons brand ;)

Juan Pelaez Check Instagram accounts of people who are sponsored

Jerry Kobza You are focusing on sponsorship when you need to focus on making your son (or you and your son) into a media channel. Document everything and let people into the journey. Having raced myself for over 30 years and also watching several racers do this ov…See more

Darren Crothers Your son is the key... create a story around his dream. Document that story, do what gary does, create a long form vid and cut it up into 20 smaller pieces of content. Include grandparents, friends, even competitors ask them questions, record the answers etc

Darren Crothers Your first sponsor could be the guy making the content for you!

Susan Westwater Michael Schumacher got his first sponsor from a parent who loved karting but his kids didn’t. Schumi made a deal the guy got to keep all the trophies in exchange for paying for all the expenses. Just saying...

Nednarb Brown lol what outside of pure entertainment is the value? it's 2019 and there would be content of someone today coming up through the ranks of one of the most amazing past times ever..... ANNNNND there's a chance to help it happen with anything from a like/subscribe to a 20k donation.... and ultimately sponsorship... capture the moment. its super duper special and make that content available for others. theres awesome info on the thread already... I see Darren already dropped the main jewel... you got something special happening right in front of you. Soooo much fun...
