How much does advertising cost - Radio & MAgazine

11/8/2020

As a rule of thumb, radio advertising is charged at a rate of approximately £2 per thousand listeners at one time. To clarify, if a show has 100,000 listeners at 10am, then buying a 30-second spot at that time will cost you £200. The late show's 10,000 listeners at 11pm would only cost £20. Generally, expect for a slot of 30 seconds to cost around £250 - £1000 per week, depending on how often your ad is broadcast and number of listeners.

Autosport is £1500 for a double spread but remember people dont read adverts, but do read stores.

Embedding Social media feeds

9/8/2019

Been trying to add the social feeds into the website. there have been a bunch of ways of doing and I'll have to watch I don't set up Weebly to automatically update facebook and then get in a cycle and crash facebook, weebly and the internet...LOL.. So quite of lot of places instructing you to add a post to the website, but embedding one post instead of the facebook feed is defeating the object.. Anyway, instead of googling and getting 5000 people trying to sell you something you don't just search in Facebook help and the developers bit. Don't worry its all copy and paste. https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/page-plugin/

This is the bit that I found and you can add the code to the page and then add the code for the facebook profile/page you want to add and its all done. set the height to about 600 so weebly doesn't make the feed nine miles long. Twitter you have to go to embed the tweet, but you can scroll up to "what you want to embed" and then cut the post off the end and use the tweeter feed line like https://twitter.com/RileyRPRacing/ and it will do the feed, click on "customise" text and set the height to 600.

These methods change fast as you can tell from this video, the method has changed twice, once when they were making it and once after because their way doesn't quite work!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFUYkruOCLY

Right thats done, Instagram next...
Well I used the POWr app to do instagram, we get one feed free with the app. Scroll to the bottom in weebly and click on the add app bottom and select POWr Social feed, follow the instructions and it puts in Instagram feed or whatever feeds you want. You could use that to do them all, but its another cost... Go free, I say!

Social Media management

27/4/2019

Been looking for an easier way to manage all the social media channels, it gets pretty hard to keep track of what you have put where between, Linkedin, facebook profile and page, instagram, twitter and the website and i should be posting in Pinterest and snapchat as well...

I had been trying out Hootsuite, but it was buggie, didn't seem to accept that instagram would accept videos longer than 15 second and had a busy interface. I liked the fact that you could see all the comments and mentions in one place as I find that I miss some of those in the native interfaces of twitter and instagram.

https://iag.me/socialmedia/reviews/7-reasons-not-to-use-hootsuite/
This site has a good review of the latest tools out there so I will be giving Friends+me and Buffer a go shortly..

Friends+me can't do Instagram which is a major pain! Also the app only shows posts that have been made through the app not all posts on your facebook page for instance. so if you did a post already using a photo directly to the facebook page you wouldn't know unless you remembered and might re-post the same thing via this app. I need something that I can check what I post to where, so its not looking like the right app for me.

Buffer is similar in that it is only an app interested in scheduling your next posts, no message management is included. You can manage FB pages and groups, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin and Pinterest. Not Tumblr though.

So from Tumblr you can post to Twitter (yet to be tested)
Instagram can post to FB (and Twitter, but Twitter doesn't take the photos just posts as a bland url link so not much good).

Website can pull in FB and other posts, but I tend to use that as a bigger main post, so want to link out to draw people into the website rather than the other way round.

FaceBook Business support

https://www.facebook.com/business to schedule an appointment with an FB expert to help setup advertising campaigns and setup your like pixel, for FREE.

Pixel and pretty mega and allow you to analyse all the traffic hitting your website, so you can create custom audiences from the people that hit the site and extend that audience using people that are similar on FB, so its very powerful. I found some strange stuff on the adverts without using pixel, just using the audience creation I've had better results just going board than I did going super narrow via that audience choice. I hope to get better results using the pixel once i get it working right!! See Pixel helper post previously..

I guess you also need to take into account Facebook want you to use their systems and aren't necessarily bothered about other methods that may be better. That said I am very happy to use as much of their help to learn more for free!!

Pixel Helper

https://www.facebook.com/business to schedule an appointment with an FB expert to help setup stuff like pixel.

If you are getting problems with Pixel or just want to check than add the extension for Chrome in your browser and it can give you diagnostics on teh pixel. https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/support/pixel-helper

Had a few issues with my Facebook ad settings you can't have ads not allowed on your face book settings and get analytics from ads you are running, so I have had to allowed all ad data on facebook. I noticed that the pixel data was a factor of 10 less than the website traffic reported, and install pixel helper to see what was going on and follow its advice.

Hash tags

29/3/2019

How should I use hash tags? Use hash tags that are relevant for my post (in my case Motorsport or such like) and something special to me like my brand name or something special to that type/genre of my post like (#PitStopStrategy)?

Darren Crothers tells me "don’t over use them, have too many and keep them relevant. The idea is that people use tags as a cross category search.

In website blogs for instance, it’s a good idea to create your tags in advance and choose them from a list if
you like you can add more but keeping them consistent is more effective.

On IG you wanna see what’s being used the most but it’s a catch 22 cos you use the most common tags and you’re competing with everyone else using that same tag, so it’s about the quality and relevancy of the tag you use"

Face Book ad help

28/3/2019

I had an hour with Facebook expert to help setup ads and answer questions I had on my adverts. This is the sort of feedback you get, the hour was spent actually walking through setting up lots of this, specifically for me the pixel. The plan is a list of help pages specific to what I was looking at. Trawling the Facbook help pages and get an expert to help is definitely worth it for a newbee.

As a follow-up to our discussion, I've created a personalized marketing plan that you can reference as you set up and optimize your campaigns.
Here's a link to your plan.

You'll notice that your plan includes a bundle of recommendations based on the business goals we spoke about. There's a short overview of each topic, along with helpful instructions and links to relevant materials for further reading.

And, here are some of my favorite go-to resources:
- Ads Guide for design specifications for every ad format
- Advertiser Help Center for step-by-step instructions
- Facebook's Blueprint eLearning for free online training courses

OK stupid question, my son 16 has now ventured from racing Go-karts to cars. I need to get sponsors and I can provide figures of coverage and other benefits for companies including marketing. Gary would say build a brand... OK what I am aiming at? I don't know really what to put out as content? And what sort of thing a personal brand looks like. I know I am just having a mind block, I am doing a bunch of stuff but feel like I should have a core idea, like what outside of pure entertainment is the value?
