Different types of teams to do different things:
awning costs, mechanical help, driving tuition costs a very basic share of another competitors awning could be from £30 a weekend. At the top end, to be part of a prestigious Racing Team with unlimited help, support, possibly hiring a kart, transport to/from the race could cost as much as £500 a weekend. Most people, especially when starting out will keep the costs low. Advantages of a team For a new karting competitor (and his family!), there are several advantages to becoming part of some sort of a team; at least for the first few races. At the very least they will ensure that you and your kart are lined up on the grid for the start of the race - race weekend is very busy, noisy and there is alot going on, I can imagine it would be quite easy to miss your race! There are many decisions to be made about your kart set up, these will change as the weather does. If you are mechanically minded you could do these changes yourself, but you will still need advice about what sprocket, whether your chassis is straight.... Ultimately, like many things the decision will come down to cost. Decision Being complete beginers to Karting and racing we decided that for the first year we would join a team which gave awning space and advice. The team had a few other Novices at our stage, buit not too many that getting on-on-one time is impossible. They also run older racers with more experience who have proved happy to give advice and encouragement. Chosing a team It goes without saying that you and your child should like the Team members and be confident that they are capabe of giving you the right advice. Chose a team that has experience of the series and championship that you are racing in. LOGO/WEBSITE FOR MIKE
