February meeting at Whilton Mill Kart Club.
We had a great weekend at Whilton Mill Kart Club, with a strong drive in Heat 1 Riley went from 6th to 3rd. Heat 2, a spinner in front of Riley gave him now where to go and the inevitable impact dropped the bumper back, he was stuck T-boned across the track for a moment. When Riley got free there was lots of work to do, just to catch the pack let alone drive back from 18th to 4th. This was duly rewarded with the 10 place penalty…. A truly amazing drive, but it’s like having 2 penalties, seriously there must be a better way? Heat 3 Riley showed the same pace and determination and won. I guess everyone else hadn’t escaped tragedy as Riley still started 3rd for the final. In the final the front 4 broke away from the pack and proceeded to have their own race. I thought it could have gone any way until Riley got to the front then I thought he was going to win as he pulled a small gap of a couple karts. I think the Campfield drivers realised they better stop scrapping and work together and pull him back in. Which they did on the last lap and Brown managed to pull off a late move into Christmas, Riley shut the door to stay second though, but there wasn’t a chance to get back. Very happy with another second if we could just stop getting bumper penalties... it’s not like he has got one for a valid reason yet! Well done to all the Vision drivers a 3rd in the heats and a 5th in the final for Ryan Luscombe, Lucus put in a great final too with a 7th and Tommy made the top 10. Great drive from Bailey too, making up 5 places in the final nice work!! Well done to Charles on his first Minimax race weekend, some good racing in the final top job! Massive thanks to Daryl Fully Litt Burgess for all the help this weekend and Rob Gilford.
